The Indiana Pacers travel to the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas to take on the Dallas Mavericks. Indiana is 34-28 this season and sits in eighth place in the Eastern Conference. Dallas is eighth in the Western Conference with a 34-27 record. The Pacers won their home game against the Mavericks a week and a half ago with a final score of 133-111. The game is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. EST.

Indiana’s main attack

The Indiana Pacers travel to Dallas after their defeat on Sunday against the San Antonio Spurs with a final score of 117-105. This would be the Pacers’ third loss in their last five games. The Pacers finish their three-game road trip in Dallas with an 0-2 record. Indiana has yet to win a road game since returning from the All-Star break.

The Pacers lead the league this season averaging 123.3 points per game. This is mainly due to their shooting percentage which is a field goal percentage of 50.5%, number one in the NBA. This allowed the Pacers to also lead the league in field goals made per game. Even from the three-point line, Indiana is sixth overall in three-point shooting percentage. On defense, however, the Pacers struggle as they allow the third most points per game with 122.0 points against per game.

Dallas relies on offense

The Dallas Mavericks just lost at home on Sunday against the Philadelphia 76ers with a final score of 116-120. This would be the Mavericks’ fourth loss in their last five games. Dallas returned from the All-Star break with a home win over the Suns. Since then, the Mavericks have been on the road and suffered a tough loss after a four-game road trip.

Dallas ranks sixth overall this season with an average of 118.7 points per game. The Mavericks’ offensive success comes primarily from the three-point line where Dallas is tenth in three-point shooting percentage. This led the Mavericks to rank third overall in three pointers scored per game. Dallas has had issues on defense, leading them to rely on their offense in most games. The Mavs are 24th in points allowed per game, allowing an average of 118 points against per game.

Luka Doncic is listed as questionable for Tuesday’s game due to an ankle injury. If the Mavs don’t have Luka, it’s a big blow to their offense as he leads the team with an average of 34.5 points per game.

Rating:

I understand this may be a huge revenge for the Mavericks, but I think the Pacers have the better overall team. The Pacers return a healthy team and with this team I can see them capable of making the playoffs. Both teams are very similar in terms of playing style, but I think the Pacers are a better team when they force teams to play at the pace they are comfortable with. One stat worth mentioning is that the Mavericks are 9-11 ATS as a home favorite this season. If Luka Doncic is out for this game, we’re going to see the price start to favor the Pacers more and I honestly think they’ll keep it tight even if Luka plays.

I side with the Pacers at +4.5.

Prediction: Indiana Pacers +4.5 (-110)

Total choice of the complete game

Rating:

When we compare both teams’ offensive and defensive averages in their last three games, season-wide and home/away, we get a projected total of 240. Once we take into account the Average pace between the two teams, which is an impressive 104.1 possessions. , we get a projected final total of 250. Both of these teams are playing at a faster pace of play and I expect that to continue in this matchup.

I’m taking 246 again.

Prediction: Over 246 (-110)
