Before being traded to the Memphis Grizzliesancient Boston Celtics guard Marcus Smart had become the heart and soul of the team that drafted him sixth overall. Smart was the first overall pick that former team president Danny Ainge took for Boston’s final core in the 2014 draft.
But how important is his role in team history? In the grand scheme of things, there are plenty of big names that have come before him on the league’s most storied teams. Many of them have won far more on the court than Smart, at least early in his NBA career.
Is the Flower Mound native in the top 50 Celtics of all time? The top 25? Could he finish his time in Boston in the top 10?
Heavy editor Sean Deveney debated this question on an episode of the Celtics Collective podcast; check out the clip embedded above to hear his take?
