Jaren Jackson Jr. scored the game-winner with 1.2 seconds left to help the Memphis Grizzlies (24-47) defeat the San Antonio Spurs (15-55), 99-97, to end a four-game losing streak Friday . The Grizzlies won their 13th back-to-back game against the Spurs and improved to 3-0 in the series this season.
Jaren Jackson Jr. recorded 28 points and seven rebounds for the Grizzlies. Scotty Pippen Jr. contributed 18 points coming off the bench. Santi Aldama notched a double-double with 15 points and a game-high 13 rebounds. Jake LaRavia added 15 points.
Victor Wembanyama recorded his 38th double-double with 31 points and 16 rebounds for the Spurs. Devin Vassell scored 27 points, four rebounds and four assists. Tre Jones scored 16 points and seven rebounds.
Memphis led 97-91 before Vassell and Jones scored back-to-back points to tie the game with 18.8 seconds remaining. However, Jackson Jr., isolated against Jeremy Sochan, hit the winning seven-footer. Wembanyama’s potential game-winning fadeaway 3 missed the buzzer.
The Grizzlies trailed 30-18 at the end of the first quarter, but rallied to get within 44-43 at halftime despite shooting 31.8 percent in the first two quarters. Memphis shot 50 percent in the second half.
The Grizzlies will conclude their four-game road trip when they take on the Denver Nuggets at Ball Arena on Monday, March 25 at 8 p.m. CT. The game will be broadcast on Bally Sports Southeast and 92.9 ESPN.
