Jamal Murray is staying in Colorado for the long haul. The star point guard has agreed to a four-year, $208 million contract extension to remain with the Denver Nuggets, according to multiple reports.

Under the new extension, Murray will be apparently will receive $244 million guaranteed over the next five years. The 27-year-old goaltender signed a five-year, $170 million extension with Denver in 2019.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and Bobby Marks, Murray’s contract breaks down His current contract amount is set to increase each year starting in 2025, plus $36 million starting in the final year. His current contract amount is set to reach $57.5 million in the 2028-29 season.

Murray was drafted by Denver in 2016 and has been a key player for the Nuggets in recent seasons. He has been a starter since 2019.

This season, Murray is averaging 21.2 points per game, the second-highest total on the team behind the reigning NBA MVP. Nikola Jokić4.1 rebounds and 6.5 assists.

Murray missed the 2021-22 season while recovering from a torn ACL. Upon his return in 2022-23, the Canadian guard helped the team win an NBA championship. Murray was a key player in several games during the Nuggets’ 4-1 win over the Miami Heat during the NBA Finals, including one Triple double of 30 points in game 3.
