Utah Jazz rookie Isaiah Collier met Future backstage during a recent stop on his “We Trust You Tour” with Metro Boomin at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City.
Collier posted two photos on Instagram to document the encounter, in which he gifted the Grammy Award-winning rapper and singer his No. 13 Jazz jersey. Future is one of his favorite artists, and he had the chance to chat with him a bit during the show.
After giving Future his jersey, Collier may get the chance to play in front of him next season. Future is often spotted courtside in various NBA venues during a given season, including his hometown team, the Atlanta Hawks.
Collier was selected 29th overall in the NBA draft by the Jazz this year. He was named to the Pac-12 All-Freshman Team after averaging 16.3 points, 4.3 assists, 2.9 rebounds and 1.5 steals on 49 percent shooting in 27 games last season at USC.
The 19-year-old made his debut with the Jazz in Summer League, averaging 11.6 points, four assists, 3.4 rebounds and 2.1 steals on 44.9 percent shooting in seven games between Salt Lake City and Las Vegas. He had his best game on July 18 with 20 points, three rebounds and three assists.
Collier was one of three draft picks by the Jazz, joining No. 10 Cody Williams and No. 32 Kyle Filipowski. The trio should have a chance to compete for minutes in training camp that begins Oct. 1, though they could spend time in the G League with the Stars.
