It appears to be another member of the 2023-24 selection. Utah Jazz The squad has officially split up for the upcoming season.
According to BasketNewsOmer Yurtseven will sign a two-year contract with Greek club Panathinaikos, leaving the NBA after three years of service, also spending two seasons with the Miami HeatThe news comes as both sides remained intrigued about concluding a contract without a formal agreement, but now the terms have been settled.
Yurtseven was signed in the off-season by the Jazz last summer and even ended up getting some reps as a starting center for them this past season. In 48 games played, Yurtseven averaged 4.6 points, 4.3 rebounds and 0.6 assists per night on 53.8% shooting and 20.8% from three-point range.
He primarily served as a depth center for the Jazz during the 2023-24 campaign, but now the reins of that role appear to be going elsewhere. Expect John Collins to emerge as a prime candidate to get a chunk of minutes as a key reserve for Utah’s forward line, with the offseason additions of Drew Eubanks and rookie Kyle Filipowkski to get some spots there as well.
As for the starting position, Walker Kessler should be the one to hold it, barring any unforeseen changes. The Jazz’s forward rotation will look a bit adjusted from last season due to the turnover, but there is clearly room for improvement from what we saw during their last campaign.
Yurtseven’s contract is signed for two years, but it also contains an opt-out clause after the 2024-25 season that will allow him to seek another opportunity in the NBA when the time comes. In the meantime, Yurtseven is set to earn €1 million for the upcoming season with his new team.
