Miami is currently 34-26, which places them sixth in the East.
The Miami Heat had a huge win on Saturday by beating the Utah Jazz, which was a close game for most until the fourth quarter where they took control and took care of business. Heat Star Jimmy Butler and head coach Eric Spoelstra spoke after the match to the media and talked about the victory making it 10 of his last 13 outings.
There is there is no doubt that the Heat pride themselves on playing tough matches with any opponent, as the phrase “playing in the mud” has been used a lot throughout this season. Even Butler acknowledged this fact and said he thought Miami was playing “much better when the matches are close” although mentioning this may not be what they want.
“I think we play a lot better when the games are close,” Butler said. “I’m not saying this is how we want these games to go, whether they’re home or away, but I feel like every time we get into the so-called muck , we get stops, we score whenever we need to. I feel like that’s how playoff basketball is played most of the time, but more than anything I’m happy to have won at home.

Butler had arguably his best game of the year, scoring a season-high 37 points, recording seven assists and grabbing three rebounds. It was a dynamic performance as it showed how Butler can score from any area, whether it be in the paint, from mid-range or even from deep, as he made all three of his attempts.
Spoelstra talks about the difference between the first and second half against Jazz

Spoelstra explained how unique that a team like the Jazz was before the ClutchPoints game and it showed during the game as Utah caught Miami by surprise in the first half. However, the Heat would adjust in the second half to take the game away from the opponent, as the head coach mentioned that they had a “better disposition.”
“Utah is a unique team. I mean, they played very physical offensively. I think Will has an offensive system in place that fits our staff perfectly. And they drive hard. They cut hard, they screen hard, and then they finish possessions where at least three guys go to the glass, you know, hard,” Spoelstra said. “So as much as you can try to show it on film, you can talk about it. There’s no way to really prepare for it until you actually feel it and I think that’s what surprised us in the first half. But in the second half, it was a better disposition. Much more on how we played the last three weeks and then this streak.
Friendly fire?
Besides Butler’s excellent performance, there were two other standout moments star Bam Adebayo who although he left the game with an injury, he returned and handled business with 23 points, seven rebounds and three assists. X-Factor fame Caleb Martin was also an integral part as he scored 18 points and was even hit hard in the mouth by Butler and had to receive six stitches.
Butler I spoke suddenly:
“In true PG 13 fashion, I got it.” And when I hit him, I didn’t know it was him,” Butler said. “But whoever I hit, I knew it was leaking and needed stitches because I hit it soft. I just wish it was…don’t let me say, they’ll get me, they’ll try to get me.

Spoelstra says when Butler and Adebayo are at their best, they can beat anyone
In every way, the duo of Butler and Adebayo led the team to victory despite struggling defensively throughout the match. Spoelstra said after that, when these two play with the “competitive spirit” manifested in the game, the team feels that they can “conquer whatever we need to conquer.” »
“Bam and Jimmy really took off from there. You know, when Bam and Jimmy play with that competitive spirit and are connected from a competitive standpoint, our guys feel like we can beat anybody we can conquer, you know, whatever we have to conquer. And they were at their best on both ends of the court,” Spoelstra said. “Caleb has a messed up hand, hit in the mouth, every play he makes is just a collision here, a collision there. He inspires everyone in our locker room, and he’s just one player. He just makes big plays at the right time. This inspires other guys to do the same.

As previously mentioned, this win is just another example of the turnaround Miami currently finds itself in, especially after the seven-game losing streak earlier in the year. Butler humorously forgot about the slip-up and even said that during that time, the team knew what it was capable of accomplishing.
“It’s okay, we’re not talking about losing streaks. I don’t even know what happened,” Butler said. ” Everything will be alright. We see who we are. And we must continue to love it. So we knew who we were whenever we were on a losing streak.
Spoelstra says there’s ‘a better understanding’ of Miami’s win
In Spoelstra’s eyes, he always used the term “karma” to describe the game’s motivation and identity. Miami knows what works and how to recreate the magic of last season to advance to the NBA Finals. Now in the home stretch of the season, they will need to channel that energy.
“We understand better what is winning for us. We compete and defend, we create the karma we need, if we don’t we pay the price. I think in the first half we tried to catch up a little bit in the scoreline and then we found ourselves down four, but when we really locked in and defended with physicality and strength and discipline and with one mind, we can accomplish certain things,” Spoelstra said. “I think there is a collective understanding of this and, more importantly, a commitment to it. It is not easy. This league is tough. I mean the offenses are super dynamic now. Speed, space and pace make it difficult for every team, so the most important thing you need to think about is doing difficult things and that doesn’t even guarantee anything but just gives you a better chance of doing it achieve.
The Heat are now 34-26, which places them sixth in the Eastern Conference while the last teams eligible for the play-offs are very close. Their next game is Tuesday against the nine-win Detroit Pistons to complete the two-game home stretch.
