The practice of vacations is encouraging because it indicates that he is healthy from the point of view of his health. This is the first time there has been footage of him shooting since he was injured.

The Celtics have done well without him, having won every game since he was injured. However, as the NBA Playoffs approach, they will need a clean slate when it comes to their health as a team.

Holiday taking some shots after missing the last few games is a good sign that he should be good to go.

Jrue Holiday struggles with “Dead Arm”

While Holiday missed the Celtics’ last few games, Adam Himmelsbach of the Boston Globe confirmed what he was dealing with. Himmelsbach added that Holiday’s missing games were not out of precaution.

“Jrue Holiday said his absence was about more than just being cautious. The point guard missed his third straight game Friday due to a sprained right shoulder he said he suffered when he was hit on a screen during Sunday’s win over the Wizards, and he told the Globe that he was suffering from a “dead arm”. “Himmelsbach wrote in a story from March 22.

Holiday told Himmelsbach that he “felt something, for sure.” He also explained to Himmelsbach why he wanted to play despite his injury.

“I still want to play,” Holiday said. “That’s part of the reason I play basketball. But it’s also about keeping the rhythm. Sometimes, when you’re away for a long time, you break the rhythm, but I feel like I’m in a good rhythm and I want to keep playing.

Holiday has played in 61 total games this season. With 11 games remaining in the 2023-24 season, he still has a chance to eclipse 70 games, something he hasn’t done since the 2017-18 season.

Celtics’ top priority should be keeping Jrue Holiday: analyst

Dan Favale of Bleacher Report explained why the The Celtics’ main goal should be to keep the holiday going beyond 2024.

“The Celtics should be especially motivated to reach an agreement,” Favale wrote. in a story from March 21. “On one hand, they don’t have the financial flexibility to begin replacing the 33-year-old if he declines his $40.2 million player option and leaves in free agency.”

Favale added that it might be in their interest to sign him to a team-friendly contract.

“Equally important: extending him as part of an agreement that leads him to decline the option and sign for a smaller annual number in the long term softens the intransigence of the second apron next season.

“This may seem like a small thing at first glance. Is it Really who cares if Holiday reduces his average annual value by about $10 million when it won’t allow Boston to dodge the second apron?

“Next season? Not so much. But having his number locked in beyond this year allows the front office to plan around a concrete cap sheet. That has value, and even more value in just ensuring that the vacation stays put.

The Celtics are a team that has crossed the NBA’s second fiscal apron. If they stay above it, there will be consequences. That’s why Holiday’s next deal could be a big factor in future decisions.
