Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant is one of the greatest scorers of his generation, but he hasn’t played that way in his last few games.

Facing a Milwaukee Bucks team without two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, Durant was held to just 11 points on 4-of-10 shooting as the Suns suffered a 140-129 loss. It was his second straight game with fewer than 15 points and his third straight game shooting less than 50 percent from the field.

An off night from Durant will always raise eyebrows, but it was his effort and body language that were truly concerning. The 35-year-old entered the game averaging 19.5 field goal attempts per game. On Sunday, he often disappeared on offense and showed a lack of aggression that hurt Phoenix’s chances of competing, as the team never held a lead after the first quarter.

Bradley Beal had one of his best games as a member of the Suns, leading the team with 28 points on 11-of-15 shooting. Grayson Allen added 25 points with six three-pointers and Devin Booker scored 23 points .

Unfortunately, Durant didn’t show up as the Bucks were led by Damian Lillard and Bobby Portis, who scored 31 points each. Lillard tied a career high with 16 assists.

Fans on social media didn’t let Durant off the hook during his lackluster performance on Sunday:

It’s Kevin Durant all season when the big 3 play. Fantastic coaching job to realize that Kd who just averaged 40 over 5 consecutive games should be used like Harrison Barnes since Beal and Book are better ???? pic.twitter.com/NELGuixbO5

The Suns fell to 39-29 after Sunday’s loss. Phoenix has struggled to find its way into the play-in tournament, and time is running out for the team to climb the standings.

The Suns certainly hope Durant returns to MVP level as the playoffs approach.

Phoenix will be back in action Wednesday at home against the Philadelphia 76ers (37-30).
