With the 2024-25 NBA season just months away, Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce took to their podcast, Ticket & The Truth|KG CERTIFIED, and discussed the possibility of the Milwaukee Bucks winning the title.
The Bucks had a pretty volatile season last year: Damian Lillard was signed a few weeks before the regular season began, Khris Middleton wasn’t healthy, and Doc Rivers was named head coach mid-season. Pierce says the team will notice a huge difference now. Plus, training camp will also help the two stars — Giannis and Dame — improve their chemistry on and off the court.
“I think they’re going to be better. I think they’re going to have another year together under Doc… Doc came in halfway through the year, they’ve played about 30 games already. He’s going to have a training camp now, he’s going to get his coaching staff together. They’re going to be better.”
While The Truth had faith in Giannis Antetokounmpo and his accomplices, Garnet KG denied that Wisconsin is a threat in the East. However, he said he can only speak to the strength of the team after seeing how the “big factor” — Khris Middleton — performs.
“I have yet to see what Middleton is like, because he played a big part in their growth. He’s not the Middleton we know, brother.”
The Big Ticket simply implied that the Bucks weren’t enough to defeat four Eastern Conference teams.
“The East got better. The Knicks got better, Cleveland got better, Philly got better. Can you beat those three teams? And then the Cs! Man, they’ve got four teams that are almost better, can they beat those four teams?”
With the arrival of Damian Lillard, the Milwaukee team was expected to dominate the league. Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to be the case. To everyone’s surprise, the team failed to reach the 50-win mark, a threshold they have crossed four times in the last five seasons. In addition, they also suffered an unexpected loss against the Indiana Pacers in the first round of the playoffs.
To be fair, they were playing well (30-13) before Adrian Griffin was surprisingly fired. With not many changes to the roster or coaching staff, fans of the franchise are hoping that the synergy between the players will improve over the past few months and that they will perform significantly better in the upcoming season.
While KG may not agree with this, the Dame-Giannis duo is one of the best duos in league history that can produce a championship. What do you think of this duo? Let us know in the comments section below.
