The 2024-25 NBA season offers a fresh start for Tobias Harris.

After the 2023-24 season wrapped up, Harris expected to hit the free-agent market for the first time since 2019. The veteran forward never ruled out a return to the Philadelphia 76ers, but the future was sealed. For the first time since 2018, Harris was on track to find a new team.

During the first stage of the 2024 free agency period, Harris did indeed find a situation. As expected, he reached a deal to return to the Detroit Pistons.

Harris reportedly signed a two-year, $52 million contract with Detroit.

He returned to the Pistons for the first time since the 2017-18 season.

While he has played in the NBA since joining the Milwaukee Bucks for his rookie season, Harris will have the opportunity to face several former teams next year.

Now that the NBA has released the 2024-25 schedule, Harris could have a few key dates circled on his calendar.

This game is new for Harris. After spending the last six seasons playing frequently at the Wells Fargo Center, Harris returns as a visitor for the first time in late October. The Sixers rewarded Harris with a nice contract in 2019, so there should be no hard feelings. However, the veteran forward is likely eager for the chance to show off in front of his home crowd.

When Detroit traded Harris in 2018, they sent him to the Clippers. The stop in Los Angeles was a crucial step for Harris before he got his biggest contract offer from Philadelphia.

Harris spent a lot of time playing for the Magic early in his career. After being traded to Orlando in 2013, Harris spent two full seasons playing for the Magic before being traded to Detroit in 2016.

Milwaukee remains Harris’ most forgettable stop. Although the Bucks traded Harris on draft night in 2011, they only had him for 70 games. Harris could get some revenge games this year, but the Bucks probably won’t be one of them unless he has something to prove to his former coach, Doc Rivers.
