Milwaukee Bucks will always be without the services of three-time All-Star Khris Middleton when they assume the Los Angeles Clippers Monday night. The 32-year-old woman is still breastfeeding persistent left ankle injury this will now keep him sidelined for an 11th consecutive game.

The Bucks are eager to have their star swingman back, but at the same time, his extended absence has also led to positive developments within the team.

One of the men who has benefited from Middleton’s most recent period of inactivity is guard/forward Pat Connaughton. In a recent interview, the sharpshooting wing admitted that not having Middleton in the lineup is a big blow for the Bucks. However, Connaughton also sees a positive side:

“You can’t replace a guy like Khris,” he said. “…It’ll be great when Khris is back, but I think it’s been good for the coaching staff and the other guys on the team to see what the guys can do and how they can continue to do which they do much more often.”

It looks like Connaughton was referring to himself when he started talking about the other guys on the team proving their worth with Middleton out.

Don’t get me wrong though. Connaughton is not at all happy that Middleton has to suffer another injury. However, the former Notre Dame star player is certainly taking advantage of the opportunities given to him.

Since Middleton went down, Connaughton has seen a significant increase in his playing time. He is averaging 24.9 minutes during that stretch, averaging 6.2 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2 .9 assists and 1.1 triples per game.

As long as Middleton remains out, expect Connaughton to take up a large portion of the minutes that remain available in the rotation.
