DeRozan was spotted shooting hoops and giving Watkins tips ahead of this fall’s basketball season in a video clip that has basketball fans across the country excited. DeRozan can be seen showing Watkins how to create space in front of a coach as he moves the ball from side to side before hitting one of his signature mid-range shots. The eager student Watkins is seen watching DeRozan’s every move as he shoots a free throw from the outside, a sight that Kings fans will likely become incredibly accustomed to next season.

Kings’ 2024 starting lineup outlook

The Kings have a talented roster that has the Sacramento faithful hoping for a deep playoff run. The starting five is expected to feature Damontas Sabonis at center, followed by Keegan Murray at power forward and DeMar DeRozan at power forward. Kevin Huerter is the projected second starting guard, followed by De’Aaron Fox at point guard.

Sabonis has been a terror on the rebounds in recent seasons and he will now have the chance to rebound shots from DeRozan, who is shooting a relatively high percentage but still isn’t quite the number one scoring option many fans expected him to become.
Malik Monk is expected to bring fireworks to his role as the Kings’ backup fullback, bringing excellent defense, scoring and passing to a team that functions best when it plays as a unit on both offense and defense.
Brown’s first task will be to get DeRozan on the same page as Fox, Sabonis and the rest of the Kings’ top players. If he can do that, DeRozan can settle into his usual role as a quality scorer, defender and all-around player, perhaps the only player Brown’s team needs to climb to the top of the Pacific Division this season in Sacramento.
