The Sacramento Kings currently have 14 players on the regular roster, plus Summer League standout Boogie Ellis, which leaves one roster spot and two invitations to training camp. FOX 40’s Sean CunninghamThe team plans to soon hold “competitive workouts” with free agents, including former Kings player Isaiah Thomas.

Other players mentioned by Cunningham, who he said will have those workouts alongside some players currently on Sacramento’s roster, are forwards Juan Toscano-Anderson and Lonnie Walker, as well as big man Tony Bradley.

As previously mentioned, Isaiah Thomas has been a Kings fan favorite since he was drafted with the 60th pick in the 2011 NBA draft and played three seasons in the California capital.

Toscano-Anderson is a more recent familiar face. Having some familiarity with head coach Mike Brown from their time together in Golden State, the 6-foot-6 forward had a chance to compete for a roster spot in training camp last season.

Although he was ultimately not retained, a new opportunity arose mid-season and he joined the Kings on two consecutive ten-day contracts, playing in 11 games.

Lonnie Walker IV (25) is the youngest of the group. The 1.93 m former first-round pick played four seasons in San Antonio before spending a year with the Lakers and last season in Brooklyn. With the Nets, he averaged 9.7 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.3 assists on 42.3% shooting, including 38.4% from three-point range, in 17.4 minutes.

Finally, Tony Bradley (26) is 6’10 and played four games with the Mavericks’ G-League team, the Texas Legends, before being cut from their roster.

Isaiah Thomas will have to outplay Boogie Ellis and/or Jordan McLaughlin. Lonnie Walker will likely battle for a spot against players like Colby Jones, assuming they both fall behind Devin Carter (if healthy), Kevin Huerter, Malik Monk and Keon Ellis.

With Juan Toscano-Anderson possessing more size, his battle could come down to Jalen McDaniels and some of the aforementioned wings.

Tony Bradley, being the only center on the roster, is competing against Alex Len and Orlando Robinson.

Not in terms of this upcoming training, but in order to finally do the list.

With one roster spot remaining and two invitations to training camp, it will be interesting to see which of these players impresses general manager Monte McNair enough to get the call-up – if any.

What’s the next Sacramento Kings offseason date you’re interested in?

Now that we know when the Kings will show up for their season opener, we can look forward to October 24th for Team Beam’s opener against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Training camps will begin in late September, meaning there could still be a move or two up general manager Monte McNair’s rankings before players report to Golden 1 Center.
