The launch of the latest NBA 2K installment has sparked a lot of conversation around the league’s player ratings.
THE Sacramento KingsThe highest rated players are De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis, who both received an overall rating of 88. While Fox and Sabonis are far from the best players in the NBA, they have done enough to be in the conversation for a 90.
Grant Hughes of Bleacher Report Hughes listed the “most insulting” NBA2K25 ratings for each team, but did not prioritize Fox or Sabonis for Sacramento. Hughes called Keegan Murray the most despised Kings player according to NBA 2K25.
Murray received an overall rating of 80 from 2K, which tied him for the fourth-highest rating on the Kings. This title could have gone to Murray or Malik Monk, who also received an 80, but Murray’s huge improvement and high potential earned him the win.
Murray isn’t a star and he may never be one. But he’s a young, two-way talent at a premium position who has already shown intriguing growth. The Kings’ diehards would probably keep Murray if you started talking about hypothetical trades that would bring players in the 85-90 range. We don’t have to go that far to argue that Murray isn’t properly valued at 80.
– Grant Hughes, B/R
Murray averaged 15.2 points and 5.5 rebounds per game last season, while shooting 45.4/35.8/83.1 from the field. Murray’s efficiency was hurt by his 41.1 three-point percentage as a rookie, but he also established himself as more than just a catch-and-shoot player.
Murray improved his defensive game, becoming Sacramento’s most dangerous threat as a fullback. He spent most of his nights defending the opposing team’s best fullback while also being a valuable piece on offense.
While Murray’s role after the addition of DeRozan could fit more into a 3-and-D, he showed glimpses of becoming a threat off the dribble last season and we could certainly see more of that next season.
Regardless of Murray’s role in Sacramento’s offense in 2024-25, an 80 overall rating is pretty disrespectful for one of the league’s most valuable young wings.
