The Toronto Raptors appear to be running out of time for the 2023-24 NBA season.
Toronto has lost seven games in a row, covering the spread only twice during that stretch. Things won’t get any easier tonight, because the NBA Odds Have them as double-digit underdogs at home against the visiting Sacramento Kings.

I spent much of 2024 insisting that the Toronto Raptors were terrible defensively. In fact, the only team with a worse defensive rating than the Raptors since January 1 is the Utah Jazz.
But with the injury of Scottie Barnes, it’s not just the defense that suffers. The offense has also slumped, with Toronto ranking dead last in offensive rating and 25th in field goal percentage through nine games in March.
The Raptors have put up just 107.4 points per game during that stretch. In addition to Barnes’ absence, Jakob Poeltl was put aside, RJ Barrett is currently away from the team for personal reasons, and now Emmanuel Quickley was also released.
Meanwhile, the Kings of Sacramento are playing surprisingly well on defense right now. They rank sixth in the NBA in D rating this month, allowing 111.6 points per game.
The Raptors’ team total stands at 110.5. They have played below that number in three straight games and in five of nine games played this month, and the Kings have held their opponents below that number in four straight games.

The Raptors are doing a lot of things wrong right now, but one of the areas they’re struggling the most is on the glass. The Raptors rank second to last in rebounding rate and 25th in opponent rebounds per possession since January 1.
This may seem crazy Domantas Sabonis has a bouncing prop at a dizzying height of 15.5, but I’m here to tell you it might not be high enough. Sabonis is averaging 16.9 rebounds over his last eight games, bringing down 16 or more rebounds five times during that stretch.
With all the potential bricks the Raptors could throw tonight, that big number doesn’t make me afraid of the Over. Furthermore, our Covers prop projections have him at 15.8 rebounds tonight.
Let’s close this SGP with Monk Malik to eclipse 8.5 points. Monk is already averaging 19.6 points per game since early February and should make more progress with Kevin Huerter out.
