Klay Thompson quickly acclimatizes to his new team.
According to NBA insider Marc Stein, The four-time NBA champion is joining a group of Dallas Mavericks players to train this week in Los Angeles. Among them is Kyrie Irving, who is slowly recovering from his broken left hand.
Newly acquired Klay Thompson is also taking part in the Mavericks’ player huddle in Los Angeles this week, with sources adding that Irving is currently doing limited work and remains on track to be cleared to start training camp in Las Vegas on Oct. 1.

Stein said Irving has not yet been cleared for 5-on-5 practice but is working with the group on a limited basis. He is in the process of being cleared to participate in the Mavericks’ training camp, which begins Oct. 1 in Las Vegas.
The Mavericks announced in July that Irving had surgery on his left hand after suffering an injury during practice. Irving was a key part of the Mavericks’ run to the 2024 NBA Finals, where they ultimately lost to the Boston Celtics in five games.
Dallas hopes Thompson can add another dimension to its already solid roster. After spending 13 seasons with the Golden State Warriors, Thompson established himself as one of the best 3-point shooters in the league.
Thompson, 34, arrives in Dallas late in his career – especially after two serious leg injuries – but he has plenty of gas left in the tank to contribute to the Mavericks’ aspirations for a repeat trip to the NBA Finals.
