After New York Knicks sign Jalen Brunson have made a strong return to the upper echelon of the Eastern Conference. The Knicks have made huge strides to become contenders again, despite losing in Game 7 to the Indiana Pacers in last season’s playoff semifinals. This offseason, the Knicks trade for Mikal Bridgesswinging for the fences and reuniting him with his former Villanova teammates Brunson, Donte DiVincenzo and Josh HartHowever, comedian Shane Gillis was unimpressed with the Knicks, which didn’t escape Josh Hart’s attention.

Gillis appeared on the Big Knicks Energy podcast, where he shared his feelings about New York’s powerhouse team.

“Yeah, the Knicks really suck, man,” the comedian said. In response to a question about the Philadelphia 76ers, Gillis also added: “Just like the fucking Knicks this year, baby. This is your guys’ Super Bowl, and you still ain’t got a ring.”

However, Hart fired back at X, formerly Twitter.

“Dude I love Shane Gillis…now I have to hate him @Shanemgillis 😂😂,” he wrote.

Aside from Josh Hart’s response, Shane Gillis took aim at the Knicks.

“But it’s all good,” he said. “You won a series? It was so good to be back at the Garden. The mecca of basketball that doesn’t have any rings. Oh my God, you losers, man…”

To be fair, for one of the NBA’s most storied franchises, the last time the Knicks won a title was fifty years ago, in 1973. They rose to prominence again in the 1990s under Patrick Ewing and the dogged coaching of former Lakers champion Pat Riley, but they were stuck in the same conference as Michael Jordan’s Chicago Bulls.

Additionally, their best chance to win a title was during MJ’s first retirement in 1994, but they lost to Hakeem Olajuwon and the Houston Rockets.

For a decade, the Knicks faded into obscurity due to roster mismanagement, bad trades and poor drafting. First, Amar’e Stoudemire and then Carmelo Anthony led the team to a mini-resurgence, advancing to the second round in 2013, though they lost to the Indiana Pacers.

New Look in New York

In recent years, Julius Randle has helped turn the Knicks into a playoff team again, although some additional adjustments have been made since then. Last season, the Knicks trade for OG Anunobyone of the most coveted wingers in the NBA, from the Toronto Raptors. Additionally, during the offseason, the team Brunson extended his contract for four years and $156 millionand signed Anunoby to a new five-year contract worth $212 million.

They may have lost an interior presence in Isaiah Hartenstein, but they may have made up for that with the trade of Mikal Bridges.

With the arrival With Bridges, the team hopes to have found the winning formula that will allow it to reach the NBA Finals. The Boston Celtics knocked on the door for a few years before finally breaking through, but have the Knicks found the right pieces to reach the promised land sooner?
