In honor of the 25th anniversary of Crypto.com Arena, the sports and entertainment center unveiled a 5,500-square-foot centerpiece with a six-screen setup.

The new scoreboard features 41.7 million pixels so fans can follow every detail of the action. Crypto.com Arena is home to several Los Angeles teams, including the Lakers, Kings and Sparks.

“We are excited to unveil a new state-of-the-art scoreboard with crisp, clear graphics and visuals for our fans to enjoy during Lakers, Kings and LA Sparks games, as well as other live events inside Crypto.com Arena,” Lee Zeidman, President of Crypto.com Arenarevealed a statement. “As the arena celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2024, working with Daktronics to showcase this spectacular centerpiece, which will bring our guests even closer to the action, complements the many additional enhancements and technological advancements within this historic venue.”

The Daktronics scoreboard features new technology to enhance the entertainment experience for spectators. Installation began on August 1st with a crew of over 60 workers working tirelessly to meet the tight deadline of August 14th. Given the arena’s busy schedule, the task was made even more challenging.

“Crypto.com Arena is the premier venue in Los Angeles and we are thrilled to deliver an enhanced experience with the LED technology we installed this year,” said Reece Kurtenbach, President and CEO of Daktronics. “This project reflects our commitment to innovation and quality, while also showcasing our vision for the future of technology and its role in supporting live events. We are excited to see this facility come to life as it brings another exciting level of entertainment to fans.”

The Los Angeles Clippers also competed at Crypto.com Arena, but held their grand opening at the Intuit Dome on August 15. The team spent the last 25 years sharing the arena, formerly known as Staples Center, with the Lakers.

The Clippers have always been viewed as the little brother of the Lakers, but hopefully the new arena in Inglewood will help the franchise escape that narrative.

Steve Ballmer, who funded the creation of the Intuit Dome, envisions the arena becoming the “mecca of basketball.”

Last year, Ballmer shared an original commentary on the latest additions to the Intuit Dome to reduce lines and increase fan engagement.

“Toilets!” 1,160 toilets and urinals“That’s three times the NBA average for restrooms and urinals!” Ballmer said last year. “We don’t want people waiting in line. We want them back in their seats at the end of the half.”

It looks like Crypto.com Arena is no exception, given the innovative new dashboard.
