LeBron James is doubtful for Tuesday’s away match against Milwaukee Bucks due to pain in the left ankle, the the Los Angeles Lakers announced Monday.
James has been dealing with an ankle problem for several months. The last game he missed because of this was, coincidentally, a Lakers win against Milwaukee on March 8.
Los Angeles has begun Spencer Dinwiddie in place of James during this victory against Milwaukee.
The 21-year-old veteran played 38 minutes in Los Angeles’ 150-145 win over the Indiana Pacers Sunday, contributing 26 points and 10 assists.
The Bucks game is the start of a six-game road trip for the Lakers, who are No. 9 in the Western Conference with 11 games remaining.
Lakers guard D’Angelo Russellwho missed the Indiana game due to a non-COVID-related illness, is not listed on Milwaukee’s injury report.
“We know where we are right now,” James said after the Pacers game. “Just keep trying to play good basketball. It’s a very taxing road trip for us. It’s very rare – I can’t remember in my career where I’ve had a road trip this late on the East Coast , or vice versa when I was in the East and heading West this late in the season, so it’s a challenge.
“But we’re looking forward to it.”
LA is currently 3.0 games behind the Phoenix Suns for 6th place in the conference – where it should go to avoid the play-in tournament. The Lakers are 2.5 games ahead of the No. 10 seed Warriors of the Golden State.
