Future point guard inducted into Hall of Fame Chris Paul Just Got Victor Wembanyama and San Antonio Spurs Fans Excited for the upcoming season. Paul is back in the lab. A look at the veteran dribbling and shooting regime was posted on basketball coach Chris Johnson’s Instagram page.
Paul is seen showing off his quick free throws before dribbling for contested jump shots. In the video, the 12-time All-Star looks as fit as he’s ever been.
The veteran point guard agreed to a one-year, $10.4 million contract with the Spurs in late June, and claims the league’s Rookie of the Year and France’s 2024 Olympic silver medalist Victor Wembanyama played a role in his decision to sign with San Antonio.
“Having Victor around also helped me,” Paul said at his introductory press conference. “I’ve played against him this season and I can tell you there’s probably no player in the league that everyone talks about after the game like he does.”
Chris Paul ready to take Victor Wembanyama and Spurs to the next level

After averaging 19.2 points, 6.8 assists, 3.9 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game for the Golden State Warriors in 2023-24, Chris Paul will enter his 20th NBA season. And the 39-year-old veteran is approaching his first with the Spurs with the same concentration as he has every seasonby Michael C. Wright of NBA.com
“I’m not here to say we’re going to do this or that,” Paul said. “I think we all need to come together and make sure we understand what our goals are and what we’re going to do to try to help each other get there. I only have one goal every time and that’s to win every game. I don’t think you should play anything if it’s just for the sake of it.”

The Spurs are far from being a team capable of competing for a title in 2023-24. Even in the twilight of Paul’s career, that’s not the goal of his new role in San Antonio. However, helping accelerate the growth of Wemby and the team as a whole should be at the top of coach Gregg Popovich’s wish list heading into the upcoming season.
In the meantime, it’s been hard for Paul to hide the excitement he feels about having his top new target in the middle, which the future Hall of Fame point guard says has no limits in his game.
“I don’t think he has any limits,” Paul said. “He’s one of those guys we talked about after the game last year, how weird it was to defend him.”
The Spurs will host the Oklahoma City Thunder in their preseason opener on October 7.
