Brooklyn nets Guard/forward Ben Simmons can’t seem to get any rest from his injuries, as he is listed as questionable for Monday’s game against the Memphis Grizzlies. Simmons is questionable with left lumbar nerve impingement.

Simmons has missed the last three games due to various injuries. The reason for the two most recent absences was given as left leg pain. Before that, he was rested as he has not yet been cleared to play consecutively.

Although Brooklyn’s injury reports since Simmons’ return on Jan. 29 did not include the back injury as the cause of the absence, the latest update indicates otherwise. He has only played 15 games this season, averaging 6.1 points, 7.9 rebounds and 5.7 assists.

In addition to Simmons, the Nets will also be without Cam Thomas (ankle injury) and Dariq Whitehead (left shin stress reaction surgery).

Simmons continues to appear on injury reports for the Brooklyn Nets as the team looks to make a run and stay in contention for the play-in. Brooklyn is currently 11th in the East with a 24-36 record. However, there are only two games left to reach ninth place.

What happened to Ben Simmons?

Simmons missed 38 consecutive games between November 8 and January 27 with a back injury. While he made his return on January 29 against the Utah Jazz, he continues to miss games. It is normally ruled out due to left leg pain and load management. According to Newsday’s Evan Barnes, Simmons’ left leg pain stems from his back injury.

The exact source of Simmons’ latest injury, a left lumbar nerve impingement, cannot be identified because he has not played since Feb. 26. We can only assume that all the injuries are related.

Simmons, who was once arguably a top-20 player in the league, has struggled to play consistently since the 2020-21 season. He missed the entire 2021-22 season with a back injury. While he made his return in the 2022-23 season, he only played in 42 games.

The three-time All-Star played Memphis Grizzlies 10 times in the regular season. In those games, Simmons is averaging 12.9 points, 8.0 rebounds and 6.6 assists.

His best performance came in 2020 while he was still with the Philadelphia 76ers. Simmons had 22 points, 10 assists, four rebounds, three steals and a block in a 119-107 victory on February 7, 2020.
