Lebron And Bronny James are entering an unprecedented period NBA situation.
THE The Los Angeles Lakers superstar and second-round rookie pick will become the first father-son duo to play simultaneously in the Association during the 2024-25 season – and they will do so as teammates.
LeBron has always been Bronny’s dad, but now they’ll also be colleagues. So what will young James call old James when they’re at the practice facility, in the locker room, on the bench, or at a game together? Well, one name is already out of the question.
In a preview of an upcoming episode of “The Shop”, LeBron gave a definitive answer when asked if Bronny would call him “Dad” during team activities.
“No, we already decided to do that. He can’t call me ‘Dad’ at work,” LeBron said. “Once we leave the practice field and the doors are closed, I can be ‘Dad’ again. In the car, if we’re traveling together, at home, I can be ‘Dad.'”
“We can’t run down the field and have him say, ‘Dad, push the ball up! Dad, I’m free! Dad, come on!'” he added.
So what will Bronny call his father?
“He can call me ‘2-3,’ ‘Bron’ or, you know, ‘GOAT’ if he wants to,” LeBron said. “That’s up to him.”
“It’s easy for me because I’ve been calling him ‘Bronny’ for so long. It’s not like I’m calling him ‘Hey, son,’” he continued. “But he’s going to have to adjust.”
LeBron and Bronny could share the court for the first time as early as Oct. 4, when the Lakers open their preseason against the Minnesota Timberwolves at Acrisure Arena in Palm Desert, Calif. It will be the first of six exhibition games for Los Angeles before the Lakers open the regular season at home against Minnesota on Oct. 22.
