CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – In a career full of milestones, LeBron James can do something tonight no NBA player has ever done: score 40,000 career points.

James is at 9 points heading into tonight’s Lakers game against the defending champion Denver Nuggets (8:30 p.m.).

James, 39, averages 25 points per game, which ranks 15th in the league.

James also has more career points than Magic Johnson and Larry Bird combined (39,498).

The first player to score 30,000 points (Wilt Chamberlain) and 35,000 points (Kareem Abdul-Jabbar) also did so in a Lakers uniform.
