For the first time in their careers, LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers and Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors competed together on the same team as they represented Team USA at the 2024 Paris Olympics. James and Curry teamed up to help the United States men’s national basketball team win gold at the Olympics.

The two NBA stars seemed to enjoy playing for the same team for once. Curry and James posted a joint photo of themselves and Kevin Durant on Instagram on Wednesday with the caption, “Same team… Winning team.” Curry and James have previously posted other photos of themselves together on Instagram.

This was Curry’s first time at the Olympics, which allowed him to compete alongside James. James had previously competed in three other Olympics, most recently in London in 2012.

It’s unlikely that Curry and James will team up again, as James isn’t expected to compete in the upcoming Olympics, and it’s unlikely that they’ll end up on the same team at this point in their careers.

James and Curry have become two of the NBA’s biggest rivals over the past decade. Curry’s Warriors and James’ teams have often faced off on the biggest stage. When James played for the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2010s, the Warriors and Cavaliers played in the NBA Finals four straight seasons. Curry’s Warriors won three of the four Finals meetings, but James and the Cavaliers held the Warriors back from winning the season they set the NBA record for most wins in a season.

Since James left the Cavaliers for the Lakers, the rivalry has continued as the two players are rivals in the Western Conference. The matchups between Curry and James are not to be missed, with the Lakers’ 145-144 overtime victory in January being one of the most exciting matchups in recent memory.

Overall, Curry has the edge over James in the 52 NBA games they have played against each other. Curry is 29-23 against James, including a 17-11 record against him in the playoffs. James has outscored Curry in the games they have played against each other, averaging 30.4 points, 10.2 rebounds and 7.8 assists per game to Curry’s 25 points, 5.2 rebounds and 6.5 assists per game.
