Smith made Toronto shy away from the deal.

Smith admitted on Twitter in 2020 that the rumors about him and the deal were true. His breaking the news seemed to upset Toronto, leading them to back out of a deal that would have sent Larry Hughes and a pick to the Raptors.

It is questionable whether a back line of Iverson and McGrady would have worked. Regardless, it would have been fascinating to see McGrady and The Answer work together because of how easily they’ve managed to score points in this league.
