The Orlando Magic announced a four-year extension with head coach Jamahl Mosley on Tuesday.
The extension extends through the 2027-28 season for Mosley, 45, who was hired on July 11, 2021.
The Magic entered Tuesday in fifth place in the Eastern Conference with a 37-28 record, already a three-win improvement over last season (34-48). Orlando is on the verge of making the playoffs for the first time since 2019-20.
“Jamahl (Mosley) and his staff have done a tremendous job not only this season, but since we hired him in 2021,” Magic President of Operations Jeff Weltman said in a press release. “His preparation, work ethic, ability to connect with players and the passion he brings to work every day brings positive results, both on and off the field. We are very excited to have Jamahl lead the Magic for years to come.”
Mosley, who was named Eastern Coach of the Month for October/November, has a 93-136 overall record with Orlando.
The Magic rank third in the NBA in scoring defense (109.4 points per game) this season.
Mosley spent seven seasons (2014-21) as an assistant coach with the Dallas Mavericks before joining the Magic. He also served as an assistant coach for the Cleveland Cavaliers (2010-14) and worked with the Denver Nuggets from 2005-10.
