The Orlando Magic take on the Charlotte Hornets as we continue our NBA odds series with a prediction, pick and how to watch.
THE Magic of Orlando are on track to confront Charlotte Frelons Tuesday evening. Below we will continue our NBA odds series with a Magic-Hornets prediction and pick. We’ll also tell you how to watch the game.
The Magic are 35-26 this season and have won four of their last five games. Orlando is strong heading into the playoffs, but they have work to do to maintain their sixth spot in the Eastern Conference. The Magic have faced the Hornets once this season in November. In this game, the Magic won by 13 points and scored 130. This is the third most points the Magic has scored this season. Paolo Banchero, Franz Wagner and Cole Anthony combined for 83 points, 17 assists and 21 rebounds. As a team, the Magic shot 54.0 percent from the field. Orlando currently does not have anyone on their injury report.
The Hornets are 15-46 this season and have lost four straight games. Charlotte scored 117 points against the Magic in their first game, but it was a losing effort. Miles Bridges led the team with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Brandon Miller also had 20 off the bench. Charlotte, however, shot 53.0 percent from the field in the loss. Nick Richards, Cody Martin and Seth Curry all sat out Sunday due to injury, so they will be questionable for Tuesday.

Why magic could cover the spread/win
The Magic are generally one of the best defensive teams in the NBA. They’ve obviously done much better since allowing 117 points to the Hornets in the first game. Orlando is allowing just 109.9 points per game, which is fifth lowest in the NBA. The Magic are a very good defensive team, and that will be the reason they win this game on the road.
The Hornets are scoring 107.6 points per game, which is third lowest in the NBA. Charlotte has really struggled to score this season, especially with her exchanges. The Magic should have no problem holding the Hornets under 110 points in this game. When the Magic allow fewer than 110 points this season, they are 24-5. Orlando won’t lose this game if they allow less than 110.
Why the Hornets could cover the spread/win
The Hornets have to compete with the Magic on defense. They can’t give up 130 more points if they want to have a chance of even covering the gap. The good news is that the Magic are the fifth worst scoring team in the NBA at 111.5 points per game. Orlando has Banchero and Wagner, and both are capable of big games. However, their actors really struggle to stay consistent, which is why their score is generally lower. If the Hornets can keep the Magic’s offense to a minimum, they will cover the spread.
Magic-Hornets final prediction and selection
The Magic are clearly the better team. They have some struggles on the road, but Orlando has been playing really well lately. With the Hornets not playing well and the Magic being the better team by far, I’ll take Orlando to cover the spread.
