Tyler Herro’s extended absence will be even longer, according to the most recent report, as the Miami Heat run out of time to climb the East standings this regular season.
“Herro, who has missed the last 10 games, received a platelet-rich plasma injection Friday to treat his right foot injury and will be re-evaluated in one to two weeks, according to multiple league sources.”
After missing time with a hyperextended left knee, Herro was sidelined with medial tendonitis in his right foot and did not travel with the Heat for their four-game road trip that started with a 108-95 victory at Detroit on Friday night.
According to the Miami Herald, Herro’s foot pain did not subside, prompting the decision to use a PRP injection to “help speed up the recovery process.”
Herro will miss the rest of the trip, which ends Wednesday in Cleveland. His status is now in question for the Heat’s four home games beginning March 22 and ending March 26. The Heat will host the Pelicans, Cavaliers, Warriors and Trail Blazers during this period.
The Heat only have 16 games left this regular season.
Asked about Herro’s recovery, coach Erik Spoelstra said before Wednesday’s loss to the Denver Nuggets: “He’s making progress. I don’t have any more for you. But he does everything he needs to do.
Herro, 24, played in 36 games this season and posted career highs in points (20.8) and assists (4.4) while shooting 43.7% overall and 39.9% from 3 points.
