Marcus Morris Sr.
Ancient Philadelphia 76ers Winger Marcus Morris Sr. has found a new team for now. After the Spurs waived the ex-Sixer, Morris signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers as Shams Charania of The Athletic via his X account.
Charania explained why Morris appealed to the Cavaliers and why his addition could be big for them.
“Cleveland adds veteran frontcourt depth late in the regular season. Morris agreed to a contract buyout with the Spurs before the March 1 deadline and is playoff eligible for the No. 3 Cavaliers,” Charania wrote. via his X account.
The Sixers acquired Morris from the Clippers in the package deal in exchange for James Harden. They then traded Morris in a three-way deal. who sent them Buddy Hield.
In the 37 games he played in, Morris averaged 6.7 points and 2.9 rebounds while shooting 43.9 percent from the field and 40 percent from three. for the 2023-24 season. Morris could very well return to the market if he doesn’t impress Cleveland.
Patrick Beverley called Marcus Morris signing
Former Sixer Patrick Beverley continues to get the scoop in front of NBA Insiders. The day before Charania confirmed that the Cavaliers would sign Morris, Beverley reported the transaction via the X account of his podcast.
Beverley has provided scoop for several moves since the NBA trade deadline. This usually involved him or his former teammates. He reported his own profession to the Bucks and then to Danilo Gallinari either I would join him in Milwaukee or return to the Clippers before Gallianri chooses first. However, he didn’t get all his scoops right.
He reported earlier that Morris was initially inclined to join the Timberwolves, which did not happen.
What these moves have in common is that Beverley played with Gallinari and Morris when they were all with the Clippers. Beverley clearly stays in touch with some of his former teammates even when they no longer play together.
In Morris’ case, he and Beverley played together for two separate franchises. First, they played together on the Clippers from 2020 to 2021. They then reunited with the Sixers after Beverley signed in Philadelphia, and the Sixers acquired Morris in 2023.
Now, Beverley found Gallinari on the Bucks in the opposite way, as the former was traded there and the latter signed there.
The ex-Sixer “weighs his options”
In February, Patrick Beverley gave the scoop on another former Sixer: Danuel House. After the Sixers traded House to the Pistons, who quickly waived him, Beverley reported. via the X account of his podcast this House was weighing its options. Additionally, one of his options was the Atlanta Hawks.
Since then, House has remained a free agent, although that could change before the start of the playoffs. Again, Beverley has been wrong before, as he did with Morris in February. House could very well sit out the season, or another team could get him besides the Hawks.
In 34 games this season, House averaged 4.2 points and 1.7 rebounds while shooting 44.8% from the field and 30% from three. He’s a playoff veteran who would provide depth on the wings for anyone looking for such quality.
