Bam Adebayo came to the aid of Miami heat Sunday, as his 3-point basket gave his team a 104-101 victory in Motor City against the Detroit Pistons. The Heat big man was his team’s unlikely hero as he was never a legitimate threat from deep this season.
He even shot just 11.8% from long range last week, but seems to be finding his stroke lately, going 3/3 on his 3-point attempts over Miami’s last three games.
For the head coach of the Miami Heat Eric Spoelstrait was just Adebayo finding his target lately, considering the center’s poor shooting from behind the arc a week ago.
“Sometimes there is karma in this game” Eric Spoelstra said after the game, according to the Associated Press (h/t ESPN).
“Bam was just outstanding for us, especially defensively, with everything he did and everything he had on the glass. Sometimes the ball finds that guy,” Spoelstra added.
Adebayo finished the Pistons game with 20 points and 17 rebounds while shooting 9/13 from the field in 38 minutes. This kind of performance was essential for the Heat, especially with Jimmy Butler sidelined due to foot problem.
So far during the 2023-24 NBA regular season, Adebayo is averaging 19.9 points and 10.5 rebounds per outing. He’s shooting just 23.5 percent from deep, but at least for one game his 3-point shooting sealed a win for the Heat, who are still fighting for a top-six spot in the Eastern Conference standings .
