Minnesota came away with a 119-114 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers on Monday, failing to rank as a 15-point home favorite. The Timberwolves shot 50.6% from the field, and C Rudy Gobert (25 points, 16 rebounds) led 6 double-digit scorers for the T-wolves. Picks and predictions for the Timberwolves at Pacers

Prediction

Timberwolves 115, Pacers 113

Money line

I like the Timberwolves (+102) to win as slight underdogs, but I’ll PASS on an ML game and take the 1½ point insurance with the spread (see below). Also, I’m not a fan of doubling down – betting on the same team’s ML and spread.

However, I wouldn’t frown on an ML bet on Minnesota (+102), but I wouldn’t bet more than 1½ units between the ML and spread bets.

Against the spread

SKINNY TIMBERWOLVES +1.5 (-110).

Minnesota has covered the spread in each of its last 4 meetings against the Pacers, including 2 at Indiana. The Timberwolves have also covered the spread in each of their last 4 road games.

Additionally, the Timberwolves have been the hottest team of late and have dominated on the road this season and in recent matchups against Indiana. Minnesota has won 5 straight against Indiana, is 8-3 in their last 10 games overall (as mentioned), and is 20-11 on the road this season.

This is only a slim because Minnesota has been bad against the ATS lately and because the Pacers have been the better team against the ATS this season.

More less

LEAN UNDER 229 (-108).

The Under has hit in 3 of Indiana’s last 4 games and is 7-3 in their last 10 games.

For Minnesota, the Under is 32-30 this season. The Under has also scored in 3 straight Minnesota-Indiana games and is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings.

This is only a meager advantage as the Over has been safer for the Timberwolves lately.
