The 2024-25 NBA schedule was released yesterday and all of the matchups that will take place this year have been revealed. One of the first things fans look at when the schedule comes out is when the top two picks will face off? French phenoms Zaccharie Risacher and Alex Sarr got a primetime matchup during the NBA Summer League, but that won’t quite be the treatment they’ll get when they face off for the first time in their NBA careers on October 28 in Atlanta.
ESPN’s Andrew Lopez calls this game one to watch as far as beginner confrontations This year:
“It may not have the same cachet as some of the recent No. 1-2 clashes, but (likely) future French national team teammates Risacher and Sarr will meet for the first time in October. The two players faced off in Summer League – Risacher scored 18 points, but Sarr and his Wizards came away with the win. Both players will be looking to prove they belong in the league after the constant talk that this will be a tough year for the top of the draft.”
The Hawks will open the season against the Brooklyn Nets on October 23rd at home and this game should go in the Hawks’ favor. Brooklyn is considered one of the worst teams in the league and this is a great opportunity for the Hawks to start the year with a win.
Other notable dates for Atlanta include a home game against the New Orleans Pelicans on December 2 (Dejounte Murray’s first game in Atlanta), a New Year’s Day game in Denver against Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets, and a game against the Knicks on Martin Luther King Day in January. Atlanta will not host a game on Martin Luther King Day and will travel to New York to face the Knicks.
The Hawks will have only two nationally televised games this season, both against the Spurs. One will air on TNT and the other on ESPN. Atlanta will also have six games broadcast on NBATV.
In mid-November, the Hawks will hit the road for their first West Coast trip of the season, including games in Portland (Nov. 17, 6 p.m.), Sacramento (Nov. 18, 10 p.m.), Golden State (Nov. 20, 10 p.m.) and Chicago (Nov. 22, 8 p.m.).
As announced on Tuesday, August 12, the Hawks will participate in four group games as part of the 2024 NBA Cup in November: November 12 in Boston (7 p.m.), November 15 against Washington (7:30 p.m.), November 22 in Chicago (8 p.m.) and November 29 against Cleveland (2:30 p.m., NBA TV).
Other notable early-season home opponents include the defending Western Conference champion Dallas Mavericks (Nov. 25, 7:30 p.m., NBA TV), Dejounte Murray and the New Orleans Pelicans (Dec. 2, 7:30 p.m.), LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers (Dec. 6, 7:30 p.m.) and Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets (Dec. 8, 6 p.m.).
In mid-December, Atlanta will play at San Antonio (Dec. 19, 9:30 p.m., TNT) before a four-game homestand (Memphis, Minnesota, Chicago, Miami). After that stretch, the Hawks will venture out on their longest road trip of the season, a 12-day, six-game road trip from Dec. 29 to Jan. 9, including games at Toronto (Dec. 29, 6 p.m.), Denver (Jan. 1, 9 p.m.), the Lakers (Jan. 3, 10:30 p.m., NBA TV), the LA Clippers (Jan. 4, 10:30 p.m., NBA TV), Utah (Jan. 7) and Phoenix (Jan. 9, 9 p.m.).
In total, Atlanta will play 10 road games in January, including an MLK Day game at New York (Jan. 20, 3 p.m.).
On Feb. 5, Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs travel to Atlanta for their only visit of the season (7:30 p.m., ESPN).
The 2025 NBA All-Star Game will take place on February 16 at Chase Center in San Francisco.
After the break, the Hawks will play 10 of their 12 games at State Farm Arena, with matchups against Miami (Feb. 24, 7:30 p.m.), Shai-Gilgeous Alexander and Oklahoma City (Feb. 28, 7:30 p.m.) and two against Indiana (March 6 and 8, 7:30 p.m.). Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors will visit State Farm Arena on March 22 (7 p.m.).
Atlanta finishes the regular season with three of four games on the road, closing with Orlando at State Farm Arena (April 13, 1 p.m.).
The Hawks have played 16 consecutive games this season, including four home-and-home games, five home-and-home games, four home-and-home games and three home-and-home games. Excluding NBA Cup games, Atlanta plays each Western Conference team twice and each Eastern Conference opponent four times, with the exception of Indiana, Philadelphia and Toronto (two home/one away games) and Boston, Brooklyn and Cleveland (one home/two away games).
The broadcast schedule on Bally Sports Southeast will be announced at a later date. All games will be broadcast on the Hawks’ flagship radio station, Sports Radio 92-9 The Game, and on the Hawks Radio Network, featuring the voice of the Hawks Steve Holman and pregame, halftime and postgame host Mike Conti.
