Predicting the Houston Rockets’ total win count for the 2024-25 NBA season is no easy task. Of course, this goes for any team, as each team has its own moving parts. However, the Rockets are mixing a roster of young talent and seasoned veterans in their quest for the playoffs.
With the offseason in its scorching heat, win totals are a hot topic of discussion. The Rockets’ over/under win total is generally pegged at 43.5, which makes sense after a 41-41 record last season.
An NBA analyst recently attempted to give his prediction on the Rockets’ win total next season. Kelly Iko of The Athletic predicted 45 wins for Houston next season.
“I’m giving Houston 45 wins next season, just above their Vegas outlook,” Iko wrote. “Their final two months of the season are brutal, but Alperen Şengün is staying healthy and establishing himself as a star, Green is adding another layer to his game in a ‘prove it’ year, and Sheppard’s floor spacing is helping a subpar Rockets shooting group. Houston is one of the few teams that hasn’t added a free agent — unless you consider Steven Adams — and has enough young talent that natural growth should lead to more wins.”
Ike said it best: Natural growth should be enough to propel the Rockets into the play-in tournament. With 41 wins, 19 more than last season, Houston sits 11th in the Western Conference. While four more wins may not be a huge leap, it should be enough for the Rockets to make their way into the play-in tournament.
Ime Udoka is also in his second season as the team’s head coach. He will be able to continue to establish a culture and style of play within the franchise while blending talent to create the best possible product on the court.
