The 2024 offseason hasn’t been kind to the Chicago Bulls. After trading Alex Caruso and DeMar DeRozan for prices well below their values, the team now has massive drama with Zach LaVine. To top it all off, the team leaked some very controversial comments to ESPN earlier this week.
The Chicago Bulls are now under fire nationwide for their controversial comments about Zach LaVine. One of the first analysts to publicly voice his reaction is former NBA champion Kendrick Perkins.
“Who is this source? That’s the first question I have to ask because they’re off topic,” Perkins said on The NBA Today“Did the source look in the mirror? Does he hold the Bulls organization responsible?”
“No responsibility for the [Bulls] “Management and organization are going to put all the blame on Zach Lavine? I just want to know who that source is.” 😳 @KendrickPerkins reacts to comments from an anonymous team source regarding Zach LaVine. pic.twitter.com/UqBHUK9l7H

Perkins then reiterated his criticism of the Chicago Bulls organization for throwing Zach LaVine under the bus. In all fairness, it was completely legitimate.
“Did they blame Zach LaVine when what have the Bulls management done lately?” Perkins asked. “Did they win in free agency? No. Did they win with draft picks? No. Billy Donovan got a contract extension. What did he do? Zach LaVine, in a Bulls uniform, a two-time All-Star, an Olympic gold medalist. … And he played with a broken foot at times, with a bad knee.”
Zach LaVine is not the reason the Bulls failed to get a suitable trade offer for Alex Caruso or DeMar DeRozan. In the 2022-23 NBA season, LaVine played 77/82 games for the Chicago Bulls, and in the 2021-22 NBA season, he played 67/82 games.
As soon as LaVine got injured during the 2023-24 NBA season, everything that went wrong with the Chicago Bulls became his fault. It wasn’t his fault that Lonzo Ball got chronically injured, and it wasn’t LaVine’s fault that the Bulls completely failed to manage their assets.
