Sorry for the delay on the big news, y’all. I have had a fever for the last two days. But the Houston Rockets earned a 112-104 win over the Sacramento Kings on Sunday night, but still took an L when they lost Alperen Sengun to what appears to be a serious injury.

We’ll have another update on Sengun today when we get the news, but keep your fingers crossed for Alpie. The injury didn’t look good and he will likely be out for at least the rest of this season.

As for the game, the Rockets trailed early, but were trailing across the board in the third quarter, a nice change from earlier in the season when the third quarter gave them all sorts of problems. They outscored the Kings 32-14 in the period to help Houston take the lead, and the Rockets ultimately held on for the victory.

Fred VanVleet led the way with 22 points and 9 assists, and he got to the line seemingly at will, shooting 10 of 10 from the charity stripe. Jalen Green threw 19, but was just 1 of 6 from three, while Jabari Smith Jr. had a double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds. Sengun had 14, Amen Thompson 13 and Cam Whitmore 10 to help Houston.

As for the Kings, they were led by Domantas Sabonis, who had 25 points, 15 rebounds, 8 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocks, and they also got 20 from Malik Monk.

It was Houston’s second straight win on the road, where they have struggled mightily this season. They now sit at 8-24 Toyota Center and 29-35 overall. They will be back in action on Tuesday with another away match against the San Antonio Spurs, but obviously what we are all waiting for is the news about Sengun. Lachard will have an update for us later today.
