With only a handful of games remaining in the regular season, Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James spoke about playoff seeding and their playoff chances.
For most of NBA seasonTHE the Los Angeles Lakers to have alternation of victories and defeats. This inconsistency stuck them at position #9 and avoided the Play-In Tournament is almost impossible at this point.
Of course, the Lakers are no ordinary Play-In Tournament type team, and they will always be dangerous. for as long as LeBron James and Anthony Davis are on the field.
That’s why the 21-year-old veteran isn’t too worried about a possible playoff seeding at the moment. Instead, LeBron wants his team to focus on what they can control.
LeBron James says Lakers aren’t focused on playoff seeding
“At the end of the day, we’re not really focused on the standings,” LeBron said after the win over the Indiana Pacers, per Lakers Nation. “We only focus on what we can control; we can’t control the rankings if other teams were still playing well. What you can control is going out and playing, trying to win as many games as possible and seeing where you land.
James added that the Lakers are aware of what is at stake in the latter part of the season, so they know they have to be at their best to cross the finish line:
“We just know what’s at stake.” LeBron continued. “Obviously we’ve been saying it for a while, but we can’t make any more mistakes now. In the past, we didn’t have much margin for error. And now we no longer have any room for error. We only had the right to push forward and obviously starting the half with several turnovers is not good. But AR (Austin Reaves) was able to hit a few 3s to keep us in the game or not let the ship get too far away. And we were able to lock in.
Ultimately, the Lakers still need to exceed the Play-In tournament first before even thinking about the playoffs and a potential rival. So, for now, they need to focus on the task at hand.
