If there’s one thing NBA fans love today, it’s superteams. One of them that fans want to see more and more often is the idea of seeing Kevin Durant and Anthony Edwards on the same team, especially after the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Denver Nuggets legend Carmelo Anthony was asked what he thought about the possibility of Durant and Edwards teaming up, which he immediately downplayed. While Carmelo believes the two enjoy spending time together, that doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll team up on the Minnesota Timberwolves.

“I hate assumptions,” Carmelo said on the Brooklyn 7pm Podcast“Do I think it will happen one day? Maybe. In his last two years, he’ll see an opportunity where he can go help someone like ANT. It’s a possibility, but I don’t think they’re cool and hanging out together, it’s like they’re talking about teaming up. Athletes don’t have time. They don’t want to worry about a bunch of bullshit. Athletes feel comfortable in their environment and who they’re with.”

Although Carmelo dismissed the idea of a Durant-Edwards collaboration, his co-host eventually pushed him to answer the question of who would have the last lap between the two superstars. In Carmelo’s eyes, Anthony Edwards would have the last lap.

“Ant would have the ball,” Carmelo said. “We come out of a timeout, Ant has the ball, we bring KD back from a wide block, one-sided, with somebody they have to activate. Most likely, they’re going to change anything on that possession.”

While Kevin Durant is currently a member of the Phoenix Suns, one can imagine that a potential trade could occur if the team loses in the first round again. Hopefully Durant will get that final rodeo with a player like Anthony Edwards.
