This will be Boston’s first home game since a 52-point win over the Golden State Warriors on March 3. Since then, they have gone 3-2 SU on a 5 game road trip, showing signs of weakness in a few of those games. They also beat Phoenix 117-107 this weekend, this game was much closer than the final score indicates. Devin Booker did not play in this game, without him Phoenix is just 6-8 SU this season.
He returned to the lineup in the win over Cleveland, Phoenix has been very solid on the road this year winning 17 or 30 games. I expect them to have a mini-run here as we get closer to the playoffs. Also worth noting is the Suns’ 11-5 ATS record in the last 16 meetings, which they have also covered in 9 of their last 12 visits to TD Garden. Eastern Conference teams have also struggled to win just one of the last 6 games. We’ve seen quite a few upsets in the NBA since All-Star weekend, the Suns have enough talent to pull off one here. Maybe I still feel like that after watching Booker’s interview on JJ Redick’s podcast, but I really feel like he’s going to have a great match here. The Suns will definitely need some productive play from him to get a result here, Book will be up for the challenge. He has always excelled playing at TD Garden, in his last 10 visits he has averaged 31.1 points per game. We also just saw Kevin Durant drop 45 points on the Cs’ defense in the contested game between the two teams on Saturday, so it’s definitely doable. Jaylen Brown is also hampered by a back injury, so he will be Booker’s primary defensive assignment here. In his first game back from injury, Booker scored 27 points against the Cavaliers the other day, despite going 1 for 7 from three-point land. His production will only improve as he gets used to playing big minutes. Scoring 30 points and leading the Suns to an upset victory would send a clear message that the Suns are for real this season.
