In a new episode of OldMan&TheThree, Jalen Williams received a funny and light-hearted shout-out. Williams is no stranger to the show itself, having been a guest on two occasions when the podcast was hosted by JJ Redick.

Redick was willing to accept the head coaching position of the Los Angeles Lakers, but that didn’t stop Jalen Williams from appearing on the show. In the most recent episode, Jaren Jackson Jr. And Trey Murphy III The two discussed various NBA topics. When asked who the biggest talker in the NBA is, they both agreed on the Thunder’s rising star. Typically, when people talk about trash talkers in the NBA, it’s in a negative sense, meaning trash talk. In Williams’ case, it was the exact opposite.

“J-Dub,” Jaren Jackson answered without hesitation. “He’s like… I know what he’s doing. And sometimes I’m like, ‘Yo, yo, I’m glad to see you anyway.’”

Jackson’s response almost insinuates that J-Dub’s playful chatter throughout the match is meant to be a distraction.

“J-Dub is definitely up there,” Trey Murphy said with a big smile.

“He wants to talk about X’s and O’s,” Jackson replied.

“The funny thing is, even in the playoffs, he’s talking and I’m like, ‘Yo bro, it’s Game 2,’” Murphy said with a laugh. “You can’t talk to me right now.”

“He wants to talk about basketball,” Jackson acknowledged. “He says, ‘Dude, did you see that? Why did he cut it?’ — I don’t know, I don’t care.”

“Mind your own business,” Murphy concluded.

Williams faced Murphy and the Pelicans in the first round of the NBA playoffs last season. Based on Murphy’s comments, it appears Williams was attempting to engage in a normal conversation in the heat of the moment.

This sounds exactly like what Williams would do, too. He’s had a hit with the NBA community when he’s been on the mic throughout the season. He comes across as a true sports fan and has explained in detail why he plays with such joy on multiple occasions.

Fans will be keeping a close eye on Williams’ on-court speech next season with this light-hearted clip in mind. He’s talkative on the court, but for all the right reasons.
