Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant was widely considered one of the most exciting players in the NBA before his video gun incidents and shoulder surgery cost him many games.
While he plans to return to the field as the same player he was before this rest period, Morant may have to remind some people what he is still capable of.
Milwaukee Bucks point guard Damian Lillard hasn’t forgotten about Morant. During a recent appearance on the Club 520 podcast, Lillard named Morant as one of his five favorite players currently in the NBA.

“I’m going to pick Anthony Edwards,” Lillard began. “I think everybody has their sights set on him right now, but I love him for his energy, his authentic style and his game to go with it. So I’m going to pick Anthony Edwards. I’m going to pick Ja Morant. He’s been in trouble, so I think people have turned away from him a little bit, but I mean, I know what I’m looking at.”
In being honest about Morant’s off-court issues and how it has altered the perception of him, Lillard said it doesn’t change what his own eyes see.
In closing his list, Lillard said: “Luka [Doncic]I forgot someone. [Nikola Jokic] and Giannis [Antetokounmpo]. That’s my five right now.”
In naming his five favorite players to watch, Lillard added some insight into his picks for Edwards and Morant, sharing an honest statement about why those two made his top five.
