After trade talks for Paul George and Lauri Markkanen fell through, the Golden State Warriors will likely enter next season without a second established option next to Steph Curry.
That’s a significant risk for a team that didn’t make the playoffs last season, especially considering there’s no reason to believe Golden State will be able to make an offer at the trade deadline. It’s also unclear what players will be available at that time of year, or whether management will finally change its mind about its reluctance to sell untested talent.
As these questions remain, hypothetical trade scenarios for Golden State are being floated around the media world, the latest coming from Brett Siegel, ClutchPoints Senior NBA Reporter:
Warriors receive: Nikola Vucevic and Torrey Craig
Bulls receive: Moses Moody, Gary Payton II, Kevon Looney

The Chicago Bulls are in the midst of a rebuild, so it’s likely they’re looking to find a new home for their two-time NBA All-Star center. That said, Golden State doesn’t seem like the right destination.
The Warriors could use some help at center, but getting rid of Vucevic at this point in their schedule makes little sense. In need of a second high-level star next to Curry, adding Vucevic wouldn’t take Golden State from a fringe playoff team to a championship contender, nor would it help them in a post-Curry world.
