Brooklyn Nets Guard Cam Thomas Thomas has seen his role change dramatically since the 2022-23 season with the superstar era and last season with a team lacking points. After the Nets traded Mikal Bridges to the New York Knicks last summer, Thomas is poised to take on an even bigger role heading into the 2024-25 campaign.
“I just know that and I accept it. I tackle it head on. I kind of got these roles [as the leader of the team] “Since I was in high school and college,” Thomas said when asked about his role following the recent trade of Mikal Bridges in a interview with SLAM Magazine’s Curtis Rowser III. Last season was the first time in three seasons that Thomas had a regular starting spot, and he thrived as a result.
“I’m not really worried about it,” Thomas said. “I’m just excited to get going and try to do it in the league. I’m not really worried at all, I’m just ready.”
Thomas went from average 10.6 He averaged 22.5 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game in the 2022-23 season while shooting 44.2 percent from the field and 36.4 percent from three-point range. After leading the Nets in scoring last season, Thomas is expected to do that and more for a rebuilding Brooklyn team that will have even less established production.
Thomas has already spoken about how he’s been going this offseason and how he’s been working to improve his skills to be even more effective. Based on the comments he’s made about his leadership role, Thomas seems poised to be the best player on a Nets team that always hoped he could fill that kind of role.
