Brooklyn Nets Guard Dennis Schröder has just led Germany to the 2024 Paris Olympics while being considered one of the five best players to have participated in the tournament. After Germany’s defeat to Serbia in the bronze medal match, Schroder commented on the differences between European basketball and American basketball, something that Phoenix Suns superstar Kevin Durant answered in his own way.

While it seemed like the exchanges between the two NBA players would end there, it appears that Schroder has more to say about how Durant reacted. Schroder, who broadcasts on Ticrecently discussed Durant’s photo showing Team USA members with their gold medals after beating France with the caption “entertainment and IQ.”

During his stream, Schroder called Durant “weak” for saying what he said, considering Durant is held in higher esteem in the NBA space than Schroder. It seems Schroder didn’t appreciate Durant going after him on social media, something Durant has done throughout his career.

“They won, and Kevin Durant tweets, ‘High IQ and entertainment.’ To me, that’s just weakness,” Schroder said. “You’re that kind of star, and you have to say something to a person like me who didn’t even mean for it to be negative. That’s just what I see from both sides, you know what I mean? I didn’t appreciate it.”

To summarize, when Schroder was asked about the differences between American basketball and European basketball, he stated that European basketball is “not entertainment, it’s pure intellectual basketball. Pure coaching.” Durant may have interpreted Schroder’s comments as a light-hearted insinuation that European basketball is the way the game is supposed to be played while American basketball is just entertainment and no substance.

Given that both players aren’t shy about speaking their minds, this could be something that carries over into the regular season.
