For those unaware of the Nets’ current situation, this would be the second of three first-round picks they are projected to have next year.
Wasserman also noted earlier in the article that the Nets are expected to select Duke freshman forward Cooper Flagg with the first overall pick in the same draft, meaning Brooklyn isn’t expected to be very good next season. That being said, Bryant enters his freshman season at the University of Arizona as a five-star recruit, so he should be a player the Nets should keep an eye on as someone who potentially deserves a late first-round pick.
Bryant seems like the type of player who could bring physical tools and valuable offensive skills to the NBA if he fully exploits his current potential. Here’s how Wasserman describes him at this point in the calendar:
“Carter Bryant’s physical and athletic profile, shooting ability and defensive tools should be visible enough in limited minutes to attract NBA interest. Transfers Anthony Dell’Orso and Trey Townsend will limit Bryant’s role/usage, but NBA teams are still willing to look beyond production if the potential is evident. In front of dozens of scouts and executives Portland Last April, Bryant clearly stood out in a practice game against Team USA at the Nike Hoop Summit. He can take tough shots, but he should impress with his athleticism around the basket, his scoring from three levels and his defensive movement.
