THE Brooklyn Nets have decided that they will add themselves to the list of teams heading into the 2024-25 season as a rebuilding franchise. Two of the moves Brooklyn made this offseason, the trade Mikal Bridges At The New York Knicks and trade draft picks with the Houston Rockets in a separate trade, made their offseason well regarded by others in the NBA.
In a recent ranking carried out by David Aldridge According to The Athletic, the Nets had the seventh-best offseason of all 30 NBA teams. Aside from the two aforementioned trades, Brooklyn didn’t do much else other than make a big move by re-signing the center Nic Claxton to a four-year, $97 million contract this summer.
“They reset the whole thing by trading Bridges to the Knicks, ignoring the ‘we can’t trade with our crosstown rivals’ nonsense. In doing so, they made the best deal possible for their franchise,” Aldridge wrote. As Aldridge alluded to, there was a point where the Nets tried to add more talent around Bridges, but they decided not to, much to the delight of many league pundits.
As a result, the Nets are in a good position going forward as they have plenty of first-round picks to work with and, more importantly, they have control over their own draft picks for the next few seasons. As it stands, Brooklyn will move forward knowing they have a rebuild that many people, and their fan base, approve of.
