Zion Williamson enters a crucial 2024-25 season for himself and the team. New Orleans Pecans.

Since being selected first overall in the 2019 NBA draft, Williamson has had a very difficult few years. Injuries have completely derailed the start of his career.

In his first four seasons, Williamson played in 24, 61, 29 and 70 games, respectively. Although he played 70 games last year, he was injured in the team’s preseason game and was unable to return for the playoffs.

For next season, the Pelicans need Williamson to stay healthy and play to his full potential. If he can do that, they have a chance to become a serious Western Conference title contender.

Williamson organized a camp and was in the photo he looks much slimmer than he has been in years past. His weight loss has been noticed in photos.

Granted, these are just pictures, but they bring major optimism to the team and the fans.

Williamson played last season at 280 pounds. Losing that weight would give his body a better chance of staying healthy.

During the 2023-24 NBA season, Williamson averaged 22.9 points per game, along with 5.8 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 1.1 steals. He shot 57 percent from the field.

These numbers only show a tiny fraction of his potential. Williamson has the talent to become one of the NBA’s biggest superstars if he stays on the court.

New Orleans has been aggressive this offseason. They acquired star point guard Dejounte Murray in a major trade. With Murray on the roster, the team looks to be a serious threat in the West.

At this point, they’re supposed to have a ton of stars. Murray, CJ McCollum, Brandon Ingram, and Williamson will form a deadly four-headed monster.

However, the Pelicans will only go as far as Williamson can take them. He remains the face of the franchise and the only player on the roster capable of leading a team to a title.

Hopefully he’s in the best shape of his career and can finally start showcasing the generational talent New Orleans thought he had when he was drafted.
