Throughout the NBA offseason, The New Orleans Pelicans Star Brandon Ingram has been linked to many different trade rumors.
While he was expected to be traded this offseason, it’s starting to look like he’ll start the 2024-25 NBA season as a member of the Pelicans.
Now, another team has been added to the list of potential trade contenders for Ingram.
Joey Linn from Memphis Grizzlies on SI suggested that the Grizzlies should consider trading for Ingram.
“The trio of Ja Morant, Desmond Bane and Jaren Jackson Jr. has never had another scorer like Ingram on the wing. Averaging 21.3 points over his five seasons with the Pelicans, Ingram could help bolster the Grizzlies’ chances of contending in the Western Conference if he were made available by New Orleans.”
Memphis is undoubtedly a good candidate for an Ingram trade. However, the question is what the Grizzlies could offer New Orleans in exchange.
Here’s what a potential trade between the two teams could look like.
New Orleans Pelicans Receive: Marcus Smart, Brandon Clarke, 2026 First Round Pick
Memphis Grizzlies host: Brandon Ingram
The Pelicans are reportedly very open to moving on from Ingram. They’re clearly not on the same page when it comes to a contract extension with him.
If that were the case, both sides would have reached an agreement.
Ingram could still find common ground with New Orleans. He would fit right in alongside Zion Williamson, Dejounte Murray and CJ McCollum as the core quartet.
However, it seems more likely that he will be traded. Whether that move happens before the end of the season or before the trade deadline, a trade is still on the cards.
If Memphis were serious about acquiring Ingram, they have the pieces to make a deal happen. This is certainly a move that would move the Grizzlies up a notch in the Western Conference.
Expect to continue hearing rumors and speculation about Ingram in the coming weeks. The Pelicans also appear to be a potential contender in the Western Conference and making a move for more talent by trading Ingram could also help them take a step forward.
