What there is to know
The Clippers are 2-8 against the Pelicans since November 2021 but they will have the opportunity to close the gap a little on Friday. After playing yesterday, the Los Angeles Clippers will hit the road to take on the New Orleans Pelicans at 8 p.m. ET on March 15 at the Smoothie King Center. The Pelicans suffered a loss in their last game and will look to turn things around against the Clippers, who are coming off a win.
On Thursday, Los Angeles didn’t have too many problems with the Bulls on the road as they won 126-111.
Several players had strong performances to lead the Clippers to victory, but perhaps none more so than Paul George, who made 6 of 7 from beyond the arc en route to 28 points and 7 assists. Bones Hyland was another key contributor, shooting 4 of 7 from downtown and notching a double-double with 17 points and 11 assists.
Meanwhile, after a four-game winning streak, the Pelicans’ good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. Things couldn’t have been much worse for them as they lost 116-95 to Cleveland. The Pelicans failed to live up to their potential and fell short of the advantage oddsmakers thought they had going into the game.
Despite the loss, the Pelicans had strong performances from Zion Williamson, who nearly had a double-double with 33 points and nine rebounds, and Brandon Ingram, who scored 20 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Williamson continues to roll, beating his previous point total in each of the last four games he has played. Less helpful for the Pelicans was CJ McCollum’s dreadful 0-5 three-point shooting.
Los Angeles’ victory improved their record to 42-23. As for New Orleans, their loss dropped their record to 39-26.
A high-performance offense is likely on the agenda, as both teams are among the highest-scoring teams in the league. The Clippers have had no problem running up the score this season, averaging 117 points per game. However, it’s not like the Pelicans are struggling in this department as they are averaging 116.1 points per game. With both teams so easily able to rack up points, the only question that remains is who can run up the score.
The Clippers hope to defy the odds on Friday as experts believe they are headed for a loss. For those looking to play the spread, be careful: Los Angeles is playing as an underdog, but their 4-9 record against the spread as such isn’t exactly encouraging.

Oddsmakers had a good idea of the line for this one, as the game opened with the Pelicans as 6-point favorites.
