The three-point force is already powerful in the family of a New York Knicks star.

An eventful summer for Jalen Brunson, which saw the point guard become both a captain and a father, welcoming his first child with wife Ali Marks when it came to filling that last title.

New junior Brunson already appears to be carrying on the family tradition: Last week, Ali shared a photo of young Jordyn James holding up three fingers in a gesture similar to one of her dad’s three-point celebrations so common at Madison Square Garden on game day.

Brunson’s animated response to the three-peat attempts has become a running joke among Knicks fans. The most elaborate version involves the shooter pressing his hand to his mouth, but Jordyn James obviously has some leeway given that she’s only a little over a month old.

For his part, Brunson has kept the origins of his three-point celebration to himself, cheekily telling ABC reporter Lisa Salters “don’t worry about it” when she asked him about it after a 2023 playoff win over Cleveland.

It looks like there will be plenty of opportunities for the Brunson family to practice: In two seasons in New York, Jalen made 345 three-pointers while guiding the Knicks to the realm of NBA relevance.

Last season, Brunson had 211 points on his own, en route to 50 wins and second place in the Eastern Conference playoff standings. While that was well short of the franchise record set by leader and college/pro teammate Donte DiVincenzo (283), Brunson became just the fifth Knicks player to reach at least 200 points in a single season. In that regard, the Villanova duo joined fellow active New Yorker Julius Randle, as well as Evan Fournier and John Starks.
